Accommodation in Siena

Thankfully Siena (and the surrounding countryside) is super charming and has lots of options at a range of budgets. As our wedding venue itself only has a handful of rooms, we're unfortunately not able to accommodate most guests at the venue.

Please note, if you’d like to take advantage of our transportation to/from the wedding, you’ll need to stay in central Siena (within or near the old city walls).

See the Google Maps list provided and the details below for our recommendations on where to stay in and around this beautiful medieval city.

Central Siena

Siena is a beautiful town packed full of bars, restaurants and places to stay to suit any budget.

Given that Siena is small, you can't really go too wrong in terms of location, though we'd recommend somewhere inside of the city walls, and to perhaps avoid the main square (Piazza del Campo) if you'd like to avoid noise.

Check out our Google Maps list for some options and see the details below. We've personally stayed at Casatorre dei Leoni before, which was lovely.

Countryside

The Tuscan countryside is the perfect place to rent a villa or stay at an "agriturismo", it's also the most convenient option if you'd like to drive/explore with ease, or if you'd prefer to stay in a larger group.

We'd recommend Airbnb for group villa bookings (like these lovely examples) which can range widely in cost depending on your preferences. Aim for the south or south-east of Siena to be nearest the wedding venue. And please bear in mind that if you stay outside the old city centre, you’ll need to arrange your own transportation to/from the wedding, see the Transportation page for more details.

From our recommendations below, only Certosa di Maggiano is located outside the old city centre, but there are plenty of lovely options in the countryside for those that prefer the peaceful views of the Tuscan hills.

For those looking to splurge

  • Grand Hotel Continental Siena

The hotel is undeniably gorgeous and right in the old town centre. It’s also one of the rare bigger hotels in Siena, with 51 rooms in total. At the time of our visit in early Feb, about half the rooms were still available for the wedding weekend.

  • Certosa di Maggiano

Located a 10 minute drive (or 15 minute bus) from town, this former 14th century monastery is gorgeous, peaceful, and has a lovely pool (and tennis court). A taxi into town is about €15 (with a 30% add-on after midnight). As this hotel is outside the old city centre, you’d need to arrange your own taxi to/from the wedding, but the hotel manager assured us that they can assist with pre-booking any taxis needed.

Unique stays

  • Palazzetto Rosso Art Hotel

A boutique hotel right in the centre of town, this hotel is located in a gorgeous old brick building, with impressive refurbished ceiling vaults and modern interior design. The “Design Suites” have an unusual layout (with the bathroom in the centre of the room), but the other room types are more conventional.

  • Palazzo Patrizi Suites & Spa

Just a few steps from Siena’s main square (Piazza del Campo), but off the main pedestrian road, facing a quiet courtyard, is this small (6 rooms) boutique hotel that just opened in 2024. It’s clearly been refurbished with a lot of love and the rooms are very spacious. It also has a small sauna and steam room, perfect for relaxing after a long walk. It’s worth noting, however, that they don’t have a dining area and don’t serve breakfast.

  • Il Battistero Siena - Residenza d'epoca

The hotel (and associated café & wine bar) are in Piazza San Giovanni, which faces the back façade of the Duomo, an incredible view to have at your doorstep. The rooms are a lovely mix of antiques with modern comforts.

B&Bs

Besides the hotels listed above, we recently (early Feb) visited the majority of the B&Bs found in our Google Maps list. We found them all to be comfortable, charming (each in their own way), and in good condition. In fact, most of the B&Bs we visited were taking advantage of the low season to carry out additional renovations and maintenance (always a good sign). Please let us know if there’s a specific hotel or B&B you’re interested in, and we can give you more details about our in-person visit.
